CTRIBAT Committee on Research and Assessment-Abbreviation or  CCRA

CTRIBAT was formed in June of 2003 in the Dixwell Avenue area of New Haven. The significance of this area is highlighted by the presence of the Dixwell Q-House, a historical landmark in one of the most African American culture rich urban sectors in New England. CTRIBAT was born out of five years of research and planning that was conducted throughout various areas of the city as it relates to culture, ethnicity, age, race, economics, religion, education, sexual orientation, crime, population, and other urban features.

CTRIBAT was formed on the premise of being a solution to Urban Plight, Urban Blight, and the Urban Fight. Moreover, CTRIBAT established part and principal to approach this condition by addressing the root causes and proving a cure that would serve as a measuring tool for Urban Success as it pertains to young people ages 6 years of age to 17 years of age.

Over the last three years CTRIBAT has launched several social development projects throughout the City of New Haven which have served as outreach, training, awareness, and educational opportunities to over 3,000 youth and adults within the city.

The Findings
CTRIBAT has found that through the intense focused placed on this control group, and through specific targeted programming, this control youth group has engaged in responsible social behaviors. As a group, they have dissociated themselves with gang cultures and its related behaviors that include gang clothing and paraphernalia. None of the members of the control group have been involved in any firearm related incidents. All of them have fostered strong relationships with the Public Safety Community and CTRIBAT has noticed that there are no barriers of anxiety. Moreover, an open and productive partnership has been established between the parents/guardians of the control group and Public Safety Officials. This collaboration has evolved into a social support system for the control group during times when their parents or guardians have been overwhelmed by the social, financial, and mental challenges of the Urban Sector.
